Change Detection

Monitor Erosion and Deposition

High topographic relief areas are subject to slump or even slide. Proper documentation of moving earthworks can be vital for assessing potential at risk areas for mitigation development and studies for why a slide may have occurred

Technologies for this Application

Lidar

A high-resolution DEM can be derived from lidar point-cloud data by stripping away the surface features and sampling the ground elevation in uniform increments to produce a bare earth model.

Complex construction site planning

Photogrammetry

Coastal Erosion

Coastal erosion is a global problem with significant accelerated rates of erosion due to climate change. Spitfire Drone Survey can monitor changes in coastal topography and determine areas of accumulation and erosion.
The benefits of using LiDAR and photogrammetry by drone are significant when compared to traditional surveys by ground crews. The data collected is dramatically faster, safer and is of higher quality. Surveys are repeatable and facilitate up to date information empowering authorities to make more informed decisions.

Vegetation Analysis

LiDAR sensors are being increasingly used to examine forest structure. Because LiDAR can penetrate tree foliage, accurate and high-resolution point clouds can be derived to identify tree canopy, lower vegetation and the ground beneath

Wildfire Mapping

LiDAR is becoming an increasingly useful tool for mapping and understanding pre-fire forest characteristics and post-fire changes. Because LiDAR measures point in three-dimensional space, information about the entire vegetative structure can be mapped and studied.

Our Process

1

Preparation

We start by understanding your project needs and target output. We will review the location to ensure safe and legal flight and verify any regulatory requirements.

2

Scanning

We will arrange to be on site at the optimal times during your project to capture the initial scan and subsequent progress update. Our team of certified and insured pilots will ensure minimal disruption to site activity.

3

Data Processing

After the flight, we process and data and prepare it for your use. We provide the appropriate file types and formatting to fit your workflow.

4

Quality Assessment

Independent measurements collected from traditional survey techniques are compared to our processed product to confirm our data is accurate.

5

Deliverable Generation

Using our product from the data processing, we generate deliverables catering to our clients’ individual needs, including digital terrain models, grading plans, earthworks reports, monitoring reports, various point cloud classifications, 3D design overlay and integration of high precision total station/survey grade GPS measurements with aerial survey data.
